Bladesmithing is the art of making knives, swords, daggers and other blades using a forge, hammer, anvil, and other smithing tools. It is an art that has survived and thrived over thousands of years.

A broad range of skills come together in the crafting of a knife. These include a variety of metalworking techniques as well as woodworking for the knife handle and leatherworking for the sheath.
